Spring Fin
The annual Spring Fin is taking place at Blackrock in Salthill, this Sunday 10th, starting at 12 o'clock.
Anyone who hasn't dived in cold water before, or within the last 3 months, needs to do 3 1/2hour snorkels (cold water is north European or equivalent). Anyone thinking of going to Malin Beg, needs to have them done before they can get onto the list. This Sunday is your chance to get them out of the way.
You'll need to bring swimming gear, your snorkel gear & your suits and your weight belts & some weight, if you want to do a bit of snorkel diving.
24 Hour Dive

This year the NUIG GMIT SAC is holding a 24 Hour Dive in Aid of the RNLI in the National Atlantaquarium in Salthill, Galway. The event will be held on the 19th and 20th of January, starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday and finishing at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Brave (or stupid???) members of NUIG/GMIT SAC will take turns in a 24hour relay, in the freezing waters, spending the night in the aquarium huddled around the kettle.

Medical
Hi,
anyone who wants to dive with the club must join CFT, which means that you need to do a CFT medical, which includes a chest x-ray. This applies to cross-overs as well as new divers.
If you are a student in NUIG, you can book in for a dive medical at the Student Health Unit (& equivalent for GMIT). They should have the medical forms already.
The medical costs é20 and the x-ray é50.
If you are not a student or you don't want to wait for an appointment with the college doctors, you need to print out a copy of the Medical form and bring it to your GP.
Once the doctor has the results of the x-ray, you need to bring them your logbook, so that they can sign and stamp it.

Marine Life
The next lecture is on Marine Life (in the Tyndall Theatre @ 8pm, Wed 3rd), followed by a swim test for those who missed it last week (8 lengths freestyle + 2 lengths backstroke + 30sec breath-hold). Please remember to bring your training record with you.
If you are doing the swim test, you should bring your swimming gear (& €3) with you to the lecture, so that you can be ready to be in the pool by 10. There will be some cars going to Leisureland after the lecture or take no 1 bus from Eyre Square at 9:12.
The pool session will be followed by a get to know you session in PJs.
All are welcome.
Missed Clubs day?... it is not too late!
If you missed clubs day and the introductory lecture, don't worry. Come along to the first actual diving lecture next Wednesday (26th September) at 8pm in the Tyndall Theatre.
There will be a basic swimming test in Leisureland after the lecture so bring your swim gear with you!
If you've already dived before (PADI qualification etc.) then come along and we can explain the requirments to crossover to CFT.

Annual General Meeting 2007
When: Wednesday 28th March @ 8:00pm
Where: Aras Ui Chathail
Agenda
1. Constitutional amendment.
2. Presentation from Treasurer.
3. Presentation from Diving Officer.
4. Presentation from Captain.
5. Election of new committee
6. AOB
The constitutional amendment is from the discussions at the EGM. If the club want to amend the constitution to require the committee to appoint representatives to speak for us in issues regarding the RIB, then a possible wording would be:
"Article 11:
At the first meeting of the year the committee will fulfil the club's requirements to the RIB Group ."
The committee will agree on proposed wording next week and send it out so people can see it before the meeting.
If anyone has anything they wish to be brought up at the AGM under AOB please give us notice ahead of the meeting so we can make sure we leave time for it.
